about lisa

Lisa is an adopted “Marinite” having lived in southern Marin since 2007. She received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Washington University in St Louis in 2001 and a BS in Psychology with honors from Northwest Missouri State University in 1999. She earned her license in Missouri in 2003 and in California in 2009.

She served as a therapist and the Clinical Director at the Academy of the Sierras/Wellspring, a therapeutic boarding school for obese teens and young adults. After starting a family, she transitioned to private practice in 2011.

Lisa’s practice focuses on health and mental health and how these two areas of life affect each other. She co-authored a book, The Sierras Weight Loss Solution for Teens and Kids (Avery/Penguin), She also enjoyed presenting this material at local and national conferences and families in Wellspring programs across the country.

Lisa and her growing family appreciate the beautiful slice of Creation they call home in Marin County.

Lisa also serves as the Community Liaison for Hope+Wellness of Marin.

Iuse a collaborative and compassionate approach to cognitive behavioral therapy while also addressing strong emotions, spiritual concerns and physical challenges. My work with individuals focuses on improvement of health behaviors, anxiety, depression, boundary work and reduction or cessation of pharmaceutical therapy.

I also enjoy facilitating group therapy sessions to help participants achieve long term weight control utilizing my scientific and spiritual background.
