About Karen Morelli, MS (Intern)

Karen was born in San Francisco and is a lifelong resident of Marin County. She graduated in 2014 with honors from Dominican University earning her M.S. in Counseling Psychology. She also earned a double Bachelor’s degree in Management and Economics from Sonoma State University.

Karen is an intern working towards licensure as a marriage and family therapist. Her past internships have included Agesong Specialty Elder care supporting individuals struggling with Alzheimer’s and with their families, Dominican University Counseling Services providing counseling to students, faculty and staff, at Catholic Charities Marin Behavioral Health Services and is currently an intern at Novato Youth Center clinic working with children, teens, families, and adults.

Karen met and married her husband of 30 years in college and convinced her East Bay born spouse to move to Marin County. They have two adult daughters. Karen enjoys the natural beauty of Marin County introduced to her as a child by her father in the form of hiking and birdwatching. Her passions are her family and friends, gardening, playing the Celtic harp and she continues to hike and birdwatch whenever possible.

My call to counseling psychology came during my career in ministry working with children, families and couples. I draw upon my life experiences working in the corporate world as a programmer analyst, in ministry as a Director of Faith Formation and as a mother and wife to help inform my work with clients.

My faith is the root and basis of the work I do and am honored to offer witness and hope to those who are struggling to come to a place of peace and wholeness. I especially love working with young adults, older adults, couples and women experiencing life transitions, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, people struggling with illness and their caregivers.

I am trained in Gottman Couples Therapy Level I and Motivational Interviewing, Level l. Although I work from a psychodynamic perspective, in the end, client narrative is what truly enlightens me about their way of being in the world, and together we work to discover what works best for coming out of darkness and confusion into living a life of clarity, love and light.
